Belgravia Leisure has requested early termination from the Shire of York contract for management of the York Recreation & Convention Centre.
Termination will be effective 24 December 2023. Belgravia Leisure made this decision citing an unsustainable financial model following two years of financial loss.
Shire Officers will work with Belgravia Leisure to agree upon transitional arrangements and timeframes that will ensure minimal disruptions during the handover for sporting activities. The restaurant will close from 24 December while Council considers next steps. The Shire will contact all clubs to seek feedback regarding the ongoing management of the Centre. As further arrangements are made, information will be communicated to the clubs, facility users and community.
Access to the 24/7 Gym will not be affected.
