Applications for the Shire’s Community Funding Program are now open for projects, initiatives and events commencing before 30 June 2022.
Application forms, guidelines and the Council’s policy regarding this funding can be found on the Shire of York website or by email request.
The 2021/22 Community Funding Program consists of 2 funding streams with a focus on supporting and facilitating programs, services and projects that contribute to the social, environmental and cultural development of the Shire of York. The funding streams include:
- Minor Grant – assistance to incorporated groups and organisations that provide programs, services or activities to the following sectors of the community; Aged, Youth, Disadvantaged, Early Childhood & Families, Volunteers, Sport, Recreation and Environment.
A maximum allocation of 60% of the total project cost with applications up to $2,000.
- Community / Major Grant – assistance to incorporated groups and organisations within the Shire of York for infrastructure development, upgrades and open space revitalisation.
A maximum allocation of 60% of total project cost with applications up to $10,000.
The Community Funding Program is available to not-for-profit incorporated groups and organisations that are located within the Shire of York boundaries. In special circumstances organisations based outside the Shire of York with a project, program or activity proposed to take place within the Shire may be considered given there is evidence of significant local and regional benefit to residents.
Applicants are to demonstrate how the program/service/activity meets an identified community need, how the impact on the community will be measured, how it’s proposed to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the program, capacity to fund ongoing maintenance and if assistance has been sought from other avenues/partnerships.
Incorporated community groups, not-for-profit organisations based in the Shire of York are encouraged to apply. Individuals or groups representing the municipality at a state, national or international sporting or cultural event who may require assistance with accommodation, travel and other incidental costs are also eligible to apply.
Up to $250 is provided for individuals attending an event/ activity, representing at a state level and $500 for individuals attending an event/ activity, representing at a National level. Applicants applying for funding to attend a sporting or cultural event must provide proof of their selection through a formal qualifying process.
Applications close at 4.30pm on 29 October 2021. All eligible applications will be assessed and presented to Council for consideration at the next available Ordinary Council Meeting.
Drop-in appointments are available on the following dates for anyone interested in applying or seeking further Community Funding Program information prior to submitting an application:
- 8 October between 9-10.30am
- 15 October between 9-10.30am
- 22 October between 9-10.30am
