Pursuant to section 46 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, the Chief Bush Fire Control Officer for the Shire of York hereby prohibits the lighting or sustaining of a flame in the open air effective from midnight on Thursday, 7th November 2019 until midnight Saturday, 9th November 2019, inclusive for the whole of the Shire of York District.
Any existing permits are suspended during this time, no new permits will be issued until the s46 lifts.
Conditions will be monitored continuously and the prohibition will be reviewed and lifted once the threat to the community has passed.
ACTIVITIES NOT PERMITTED DURING THE SECTION 46 PROHIBITION
- The lighting of a flame in the open air
- Any activity that requires the lighting or sustaining of a flame in the open air including but not limited to, above or below ground fire pits, Bonfires, Incinerators, camping or cooking fires.
- BBQ’s or Rotisseries that require the burning of a solid fuel e.g.: charcoal, wood etc.
ACTIVITIES PERMITTED DURING THE SECTION 46 PROHIBITION
- Indoor Wood Heaters
- Cooking with LPG flame that is enclosed.
- LPG area/patio heaters
