The Shire of York has received confirmation from the Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) that the current vacancy created by the resignation of ex-Councillor James Adamini will remain unfilled until the next ordinary election in October 2025.
This decision, endorsed by Council at its December 2024 Ordinary Meeting, ensures cost savings and aligns with the Local Government Act 1995 (Section 4.16(4)). The vacancy will be consolidated with the electoral process for three other councillor positions. A full report will be presented at the February 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting.
