The Committee is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to Council regarding financial management, risk management, internal controls, legislative compliance, internal and external audit planning and reporting. We are seeking individuals who can not only assist with the monitoring of the Shire’s governance environment, but also help to identify and drive improvement initiatives which will deliver gains to Council, staff and the wider community.
Further details are available in the EOI Document and the Committee’s Terms of Reference which are available by contacting Vanessa Green, Council & Executive Support Officer on (08) 9641 0500 or records@york.wa.gov.au.
Up to two (2) external members may be appointed to the Committee. At its November 2021 Meeting Council confirmed the appointment of one (1) external member hence this EOI is looking to appoint the second external member. Membership shall be for a period of two years to align with the local government ordinary election cycle, with members eligible for reappointment. Meetings are held quarterly and in-person attendance at meetings is preferred. The Local Government Act 1995 prevents the Shire from making payment to the successful applicant, however reimbursement of reasonable expenses associated with performance of the role may be provided, subject to Council resolution.
Applicants are required to provide a recent CV, address the selection criteria contained in the EOI Document, and a cover letter detailing:
- Their background, experience and qualifications relevant to the Terms of Reference.
- Any previous experience or involvement in local government, community organisations or committees.
- The motivation for joining the committee.
EOIs are to be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and can be emailed to records@york.wa.gov.au (preferred), posted to PO Box 22, York WA 6302 or hand delivered to the Shire Administration Office, 1 Joaquina Street, York WA 6302.
EOIs must be received by no later than 12.00pm (WST) on Friday 28 January 2022.
