HAVE YOUR SAY DAY

Published on Thursday, 16 February 2023 at 11:03:09 AM

You are invited!

The Shire of York is hosting two community Have Your Say Days on Thursday 23 Feb at 5.30pm and again on Friday 24 Feb at 7.30am. The sessions will run for one hour.

With a range of projects in the planning stage including new York Swimming Pool, the Light Industrial Area, the Cemetery and the Off Road Vehicle Area there is much to share with the community.

Following on from last year’s ‘Have Your Say Days’ initiative the Shire of York is progressing the feasibility study to identify opportunities for the future York Swimming Pool. As the current facility gets closer of the end of its usable life, what might the future look like? To kick off this next phase we are checking in and asking you to be part of ongoing conversations.

Did you know Restricted Access Vehicles have an issue with accessing the Light Industrial Area?   In 2022, the Shire of York secured an investment for access improvements as part of the Federal Government’s 2022/23 budget.  The Shire’s $10 million Light Industrial Area Project is now in the planning stage with work to improve access, drainage and roads included in the concept plans that will be available for viewing.

The Off-Road Vehicle area in Spencers Brook Road is recognised as one of only 6 gazetted off-road vehicle areas in WA. Come along and find out about the improvements the Shire is investing in to ensure the facility is safe, environmentally appropriate, and sustainable in the future.

York Cemetery drainage and improvement - Our next step in the development process is to carry out a detailed study of the site via Ground Penetration Radar This survey will give us information on the location of unmarked graves and help us in planning for drainage works and a memorial wall. The Project Manager will be on hand to talk about this process.

Avon Terrace, access and inclusion – The Shire of York is finalising the design to improve access along the central business area with work including access ramps and road crossings.  Information on this and all other projects will be available on the day, or just come and have a chat to the Project Managers to see what is happening in the Shire.

Please register to attend either session on the Shire website https://www.york.wa.gov.au/forms/have-your-say-day-registration-feb-2023/27   or email at records@york.wa.gov.au  or phone 9641 0500 or drop in at the Shire Office.
