Mr Chris Linnell commenced as the Shire’s new Chief Executive Officer on Monday 17 February.
Chris has twenty years of experience in local government, most recently as CEO at the Shire of Morawa.
Chris had a busy first week. He and Shire President Cr Denese Smythe attended a working luncheon on Thursday with Hon Michael McCormack MP - Deputy Prime Minister and Hon Christian Porter MP - Attorney General and Member for Pearce. They discussed York as a Trails Town, the Earthquake Mitigation Project and the proposed York By-pass which will divert heavy vehicles from Bruce Rock, Quairading and Beverley away from the residential area of historic Blandstown.
“The community and Council of York have made great progress over recent years, developing and delivering the vision for the Shire. Coming in at the point of the Major Strategic Review enables me to be up to speed immediately on the desires of the community, to help shape the plans for the next 10 years and implement projects and initiatives to develop the Shire, whilst maintaining what our residents most love about York” said Chris.
“Chris has an impressive list of achievements across a long career in local government and we are delighted to have him commence in his role at the Shire” Shire President Cr Denese Smythe said.
