Taking Care in Extreme Heat Published on Wednesday, 31 January 2024 at 4:11:18 PM With the upcoming few days expected to be over 40+ degrees, it is important to take good care of yourselves and your loved ones. Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. To help you stay cool the following advice may be helpful: Seek a place to keep cool. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. The following online resources are also available and provide further information: Heatwave warning (bom.gov.au) Heatwaves – be prepared for extreme heat (healthywa.wa.gov.au) Heatwave strategies for local government (health.wa.gov.au) Both the CRC and the Library are open and airconditioned, so you may like to drop in to escape the heat and grab a cold bottle of water.
