Aboriginal History WA & Storylines In York

Thursday 8th August 2024

Aboriginal History WA and storylines are coming to York and other venues in the Wheatbelt.

Information about the Aboriginal family history information sessions across your networks. During the travel across the Wheatbelt AHWA will be accompanied by the State Library’s Storylines team and the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage’s Sites of Truth-telling team.

SLWA Storylines:

  • Storylines is an Indigenous online archive managed and hosted by the State Library of Western Australia. It features more than 12,000 photos and materials that can assist you to find information about your family and provides a safe place to share materials about Aboriginal people from Western Australia.’

PLH Site of truth-telling:

  • The Sites of Truth Telling Project is about addressing the lack of Aboriginal historic places on the State Heritage List. Our approach is to consult with local Aboriginal community to discuss what historic places they would like on the State Heritage List and/or to get a better understanding of these places. These might include places such as missions, orphanages, massacre sites, fringe camps with our aim to inform the development of heritage policy around these historically significant places, for the benefit of the Aboriginal community and the broader community.
