Restricted Burning

Burning Permits Required

*PROHIBITED BURNING PERIOD for the Shire of York has been BROUGHT FORWARD and will commence 7th November 2024 through to 14th February 2025 unless otherwise notified.

All Areas - 15 February - 14 April

Variations to restricted burning times may be declared each year. Please contact the Community Emergency Services Manager for current advice 

Applying for a Permit

To apply for a permit, please follow the following steps:

If you are unable to apply for a Permit online yourself, please visit the York CRC (89 Avon Terrace) who can assist you to submit an application. Alternatively, you may be able to get a friend or family member to assist you to submit the application online.

Please be aware that an application for a Permit to Burn can take up to 48 hours to approve so please take this time frame into account when deciding when you wish to burn.

Step 1 - Click on "Apply for Fire Permit Online" button (located below after step 5)

Step 2 - Complete the Online Form

Fill in the application and provide as much detail as possible.

Step 3 - Submit the Form

Once you have finished entering all your details, click the Submit button and the application will be sent via email for processing by our staff.

Step 4 - Application Review

Once the permit is received and processed. A Bush Fire Control Officer will fill in any additional conditions and issue a Permit number and send you an email copy of the signed Permit.

If the details of the permit need to be clarified your local Bush Fire Control Officer will contact you to get further details or book in a time to inspect your burn and approve the permit.

Step 5 - Read and Follow all Conditions on the Permit

Call DFES Communications Centre on 9395 9209 to register your burn. Your burn will be placed on the www.emergency.wa.gov.au website to keep the public informed and reduce potential 000 calls.
