FAQs
Will the power lines be going underground?
Selected powerlines on Maxwell Street and Forrest Street will go underground as part of this project. Only those poles directly impacting road works will be removed due to the estimated costs.
Will there be land acquisitions?
Discussions are already underway with private property owners. Land acquisition requirements are estimated at less than 1500m2 and impacts four properties.
Some intersections will be able to be widened using adjacent road reserves and Shire land and it will not be necessary to access private land.
How will waterflow be managed in the LIA?
Within the project, budget has been allocated to drainage works. There are plans to install piped drainage. There will be detailed designs that considers volumes and gradients and plan for the disposal of the water.
Will the intersections be constructed one at a time, so that businesses are not disturbed?
A key part of the planning for construction will look at how disturbances can be managed to reduce the impact on businesses.
