We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Principal Environmental Health Officer to join our team at Shire of York. Key Responsibilities
- Enforce provisions of the Food Act 2008, Food Regulations, and the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code as they relate to food businesses throughout the Shire.
- Investigate, respond to, and assist to resolve community noise complaints pursuant to the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
- Undertake sampling programs for food, public swimming pools, drinking water, and other water sources.
- Implement the Shire Public Health Plan and manage programs pursuant to the Public Health Act 2016, ensuring they address contemporary environmental and public health issues.
- Design and implement health promotion initiatives and public education campaigns to enhance community health awareness.
- Oversee the operational management of Containers for Change, the York Waste Transfer Station, and the York Septage Ponds, ensuring licensing, compliance, and reporting for programs are maintained.
Remuneration:
The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 8 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Enterprise Agreement 2019 ($99,545.34 – $104,169.32). Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s skills and experience.

- 11.5% superannuation plus salary sacrificing option with matching Shire contribution up to 3.00%.
