York Speed Shear
Past Event
Speed shears bring all the fastest shearers in the west to one place to compete for bragging rights and $10,000 cash money. With WA hosting 3 world record attempts this year, you can guarantee the best of the best will be using events like these as 'practice' ahead of their world record attempts.
Speed shear rules are simple - quickest to shear a sheep to 'shed' standard wins. Their are three judges; generally a farmer, shearing contractor and (perhaps) a shearer judging each sheep shorn and nominating either a red or green light. Three greens and your time counts and your through to the finals. Two reds or more and your DQ'd (disqualified).
Hosted by the Castle Hotel, with plenty of local and regional sponsors, the York Speedshear is going to be Massive!
Heats start from 3pm so make sure you get down early to get you a great seat and witness the best of the best in the Shearing business.
