The Shire of York is following the advice of the WA Department of Health, and introducing changes to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
We anticipate that there will be some constraints to service delivery as a result of COVID-19, particularly where we cannot safely implement hygiene or social distancing measures e.g. due to a lack of space.
The following facilities were re-opened on the 18 May 2020:
- York Town Hall & Lesser Hall
- Shire of York Library
- Shire of York Visitor Centre
The Shire of York now requires all businesses and sport & recreation groups (including dance classes) to complete a COVID Safety Plan prior to using Shire facilities. A copy is to be lodged with the Shire of York for our records.
You can download a COVID Safety Plan and the COVID Safety Guidelines for business and industry and sporting groups on these links.
The Safety Plans ensure that all users are mitigating the risks of COVID-19 by:
- Maintaining a strict limit of a minimum of 4sqm per person
- Ensuring a maximum of 20 people per venue (excluding staff)
- Maintaining hygiene and frequent cleaning
- Maintaining attendance records of patrons for the purpose of contact tracing
- Carefully managing waiting areas to ensure social distancing
Please note that at this stage the York Recreation & Convention Centre Bar and Restaurant and Recreation Centre and all indoor facilities, the Gym and the Town Hall Kitchen will remain closed until Phase 3 is implemented by the State Government.
