The Shire of York is committed to fostering an inclusive and vibrant community that values the voices and perspectives of our youth. The Youth Advisory Group role will be to provide insights, ideas, and a fresh outlook on matters affecting our youth. We believe in amplifying youth voices, addressing their unique needs, and shaping policies that directly impact their lives.
Are you passionate about empowering young people and contributing to their well-being?
We invite you to express your interest in becoming a member of our dynamic Youth Working Group. Ideally our group will be comprised of dedicated youth-focused adults and young individuals.
This group is seeking community members who are:
- Aged between 12 - 24.
- Representatives from peak bodies and sector organisations working in the Youth space.
- people from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds
- people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds
- LGBTQI+
- Shire of York Councilor or staff
As a member of our Youth Working Group, you will have the opportunity to:
- Deepen and Broaden Understanding: Contribute to our organization’s understanding of the challenges faced by young people today.
- Influence Initiatives: raise challenges and opportunities which relate to youth in the York community.
- Advocate for Youth: Provide a platform to share the opinions, aspirations, and concerns of young individuals in our community.
- Represent community views on youth matters brought before the Group by Shire Officers and assist with the Youth Strategy Plan
The York Youth Advisory Group will meet on a bimonthly basis. The draft Terms of Reference (ToR) for the group are available to view here. The ToR will be finalised by the working group once formed.
